Albatross Description
YBT POSE 06: -
The Albatross is a dynamic pose that marries breath and movement gracefully. It is an easy position to adopt as the stress on the hamstrings is minimal; the hamstrings tend to be an infamous tight spot for primary school children. The Albatross is renowned for its huge wing span and this fact captures the imagination of the children as they transform themselves into this metaphysical creature. Bending in the knees and from the waist with the feet mat width apart offers the child great hip flexion and spinal extension. When the Albatross spreads its huge wings with a deep in breath and then embraces its body with a long out breath, a pumping action is created for the lungs and each time the wings envelop the body the child is is given a reassuring cuddle from the movement.
