Candle Description

YBT POSE 26: -

Inverting the body is a 'royal' achievement in yoga asana tradition. The Candle or Sarvangasana is regarded as the 'queen' of poses as it literally turns the body upside down, gives the abdominal organs a little shake around and gives the children a new perspective on their world. The Candle stimulates the thyroid gland which is responsible for regulating the metabolism and absorption of calcium in the body, so this pose is great if your children are overweight, although a perfectly straight Candle is not necessary if this is the case, much better to preserve the supporting joints. Once all the children are in Candle, I pretennd to light their toes and tell them they are one big birthday cake. Ready to blow out the candles? Then bring your toes to your mouth and take a deep breath in through the nose with the mouth closed and blow!
