The course involves 2 intensive days of practical work in a studio. The aim of the Teen YB Technique™ is to offer you an informed, practical and personal approach to teaching teenagers yoga. It has been developed to allow you the freedom to focus on your connection with young adults, the creative aspect having been set out in an easy to use format. The emphasis is on equipping you with the tools to create, inspire and cherish all the teens that you teach within a coherent structure. Many teens would have already been exposed to yoga in their primary years, it is a very popular extra curricular activity in schools. The aim of Teen YB is to build upon what they have already learnt and reinforce the importance of a healthy lifestyle and awareness of the body and the mind so that teenagers can draw upon the lessons they have learnt on their mat to help them deal with the stresses and strains of developing into an adult.
The Teen YB Technique™ aims to help a teenager identify his place within his surroundings and offer him stability. This knowledge will enhance his feeling of self-worth and can boost his levels of confidence in these crucial transitional years. Teens want to be free, free to work things out for themselves but when they can't, when it goes wrong they become sad and lose self-confidence. Sometimes teens are not empowered to work things out for themselves which means they function less well as an adult.
The Teen YB Technique™ promotes self-esteem, awareness and importantly respect for others. A teenager will tell you that older people differ from them. Older people make rules and deep down teens know these are set down to make family life function better, to teach teens about responsibility, to help them through their life. Yet teens will still rebel against them. A teen will expect their parent to always be there to support and love them but often on their terms. This leads to conflict and Teen YB aims to teach the children how to avoid this conflict and how to deal with it when it arises.
