Yoga Bananas Certificated Training Course This certificated training course will prove invaluable to yoga teachers, and yoga teacher trainees or those with a sound knowledge of yoga asanas.

The course offers an alternative way of building a child's confidence akin to performing and creative arts, but by the very nature of yoga and its roots within the sacred Indian tradition, it also offers a child the opportunity to explore their intuitive nature and spirituality. The training course is run over three days.

Day One - Theory: Working through the training manual written by Vicky Oliver. The manual includes over 100 postures with illustrations and covers the following:

pranayama
meditation
how to structure a class
suggested postures
dealing with restlessness in the class
working with bullying
how to approach a school with a view to teaching children's yoga.

This day will also include two classes taught by Vicky. You will then be given a week to develop your creative repertoire and style.

Day Two - Practical: This day offers you the chance to apply your knowledge and expertise into the class setting under the guiding eye of Vicky. You will be trying out your class plans on each other and Vicky will be giving individual practical advice on how to hone your skills.

There will be exercises throughout the day designed to help you connect with your inner child and improve your storytelling skills.

Day Three - Practical: By now you should be brimming with confidence and inspiration. There will be groups of children in attendance throughout the day. Each teacher will get the chance to try out his/her new skills on a group pf children. Scary but great FUN! Vicky is on hand throughout to discuss any problems that you may need to address and she will offer you suggestions for improving your class.

Vicky prefers to work in small groups so that you may go away fully confident and sure of your ability to be part of introducing yoga to our youngest generation.

Cost: £525

Yoga BananasTM Schoolteacher's Training Course
This one day training course will prove invaluable to schoolteachers, classroom assistants and professionals working with children.

Knowledge of yoga asana is helpful but not essential. This training is open to individual schoolteachers and professionals working with children as a one-day course. For professional organisations wanting to train more than one member of staff at a time, this course is run over two days.

Day One - Theory and Practical: Working through the training manual written by Vicky Oliver. The manual covers the following:

visualisation techniques
exercises for improving posture
poses that can be explored using a school chair
relaxation and breathing exercises
techniques in how to change the mood of your classroom
eye exercises
an exploration of moves that will alleviate tension in the body
exercises to develop the brain to facilitate learning
movements that can be incorporated into a PE session

At the heart of the manual, the over-riding emphasis is on improving camaraderie between classmates. The training hopes to offer teachers a more fulfilling concept of the equality and respect that children and their mentors should exercise towards each other.
